EThe awards for 1995/1996 theatre season
APRIL 1997 – Great Hall of the “I.L.Caragiale” Theatre in Bucharest.
THE NOMINATIONS for the 1995-1996 UNITER AWARDS were made by a selection JURY made up of the editors of Theatre Today (Teatrul Azi) magazine: Magdalena Boiangiu, Alice Georgescu and Dumitru Solomon.
The final JURY, which designates the WINNERS OF THE UNITER AWARDS from these nominations, is made up of: Puiu Antemir (scenographer), Kovacs Levente (director), Doina Modola (theatre critic), Valeria Seciu (actress), Ion Tobosaru (theatre critic).

The Award for Best Show
- Caligula by Albert Camus, directed by: Mihai Maniutiu, Bulandra Theatre
- Danaidele after Eschil, directed by: Silviu Purcarete, National Theatre, Craiova and Tofan Foundation for Theatre and Film – WINNER
- The Comic Opera (Opereta) by Witold Gombrowicz, directed by: Tompa Gábor, State Hungarian Theatre, Cluj-Napoca.
The Award for Best Director
- Catalina Buzoianu, for the shows “Six Characters in Search of an Author” („Sase personaje in cautarea unui autor“) by Luigi Pirandello, “The Buried Child” („Copilul ingropat”) by Sam Shepard (Bulandra Theatre), „Chira Chiralina“ after Panait Istrati (Maria Filotti Dramatic theatre, Braila) and „Penthesileea“by Heinrich von Kleist/Mioara and Adrian Cremene (Dramatic Theatre, Constanta). WINNER
- Mihai Maniutiu, for the shows „Caligula“ by Albert Camis (L.S.Bulandra Theatre) and Antigone by Sophocles (Tineretului Theatre, Piatra Neamt).
- Tompa Gábor, for the shows „Woyzeck“ by Georg Büchner (L.S.Bulandra Theatre) and “The Comic Opera” („Opereta“) by Witold Gombrowicz (State Hungarian Theatre, Cluj-Napoca).
The Award for Best Actor
- Mircea Albulescu, for the part Luka Laban in the show “The Professional” („Profesionistul“) by Dusan Kovacevic (I.L.Caragiale National Theatre)
- Horatiu Malaele, for the parts The Director in the show “Six Characters in Search of an Author” („Sase personaje in cautarea unui autor“) by Luigi Pirandello (L.S.Bulandra Theatre) and The Professor in the show “The Lesson” (Lectia) by Eugen Ionescu (Theatrum Mundi/ Nottara Theatre).
- Victor Rebengiuc, for the part Dodge in the show “The Buried Child” („Copilul ingropat“) by Sam Shepard (L.S.Bulandra Theatre) – WINNER
The Award for Best Actress
- Coca Bloos, for the part Danaos in the show „Danaidele“ after Eschil (National Theatre, Craiova and Tofan Foundation for Theatre and Film) and the parts Ricardito – Pitana in the show “Death Eating Bananas” („Moartea mananca banane“) by Alfonso Zurro (The Small Theatre)
- Mariana Mihut, for the part Halie in the show “The Buried Child” („Copilul ingropat“) by Sam Shepard (L.S.Bulandra Theatre) – WINNER
- Oana Pellea, for the parts Lucius in the show “Julius Caesar“ by William Shakespeare, Marie in the show “Woyzeck“ by Georg Büchner (L.S.Bulandra Theatre) and Drusilla in “Caligula“ by Albert Camus (L.S.Bulandra Theatre).
The Award for Best Scenography
